Possibly another reference that's beyond us, but he definitely reminds us of the Dutch impressionist painter...

It's just a shame his impressionism skills are nowhere near as high as the chap he seems to be emulating, as his lug wound is a real missed opportunity for a heavy dose of the old haemoglobic spatter, especially on those whiter-than-white bandages... Get your brush on next time Vince lad..!
