There's no doubt that he's intending the Aladdin Sane look, but the facepaint, which is the main attraction & most recognisable feature, looks dreadful...

It's not exactly a hard pattern either, so we can't understand how he struggled so hard with it... When he looks around at all the elaborate & highly detailed Skeletons, Mexican DOTD's, Animals etc. he'll probably kick himself, as the rest of the look, especially the giant syrup, have been nailed pretty effectively...
