Rodigan is a huge name in the dancheall/reggae world. He is famous for his soundclashes with soundsystems such as Bass Odyssey, Kilimanjaro, Bodyguard, Barry G and more.
Here are just a couple, of the hundreds of You tubes out there of David in full flow…

He has personalised dubplates made for him and his own Soundsystem. He has been a DJ on the radio since 1978 and you can still listen to him between 11pm-1am on Kiss FM.

David’s last 3 shows here have become the stuff of legend…
He absolutely smashed the place dropping tunes like Nas & Damien Marley, back to back with the wickedest Dub you could possibly wish to hear…
All the cities Old Skool Reggae heads were there & the switched on end of the younger, Dubstep loving crowd also turned out in force to pay tribute to a proper legend. It was without doubt a hot contender for show of the year.
You really have to see him to believe him & this is without doubt the hottest ticket in town this term…

All about David…
Britain’s most famous dub + reggae presenter/DJ, David Rodigan has been broadcasting compelling radio shows for more than 25 years, inspiring a generation of Jamaican music fans in London. His enthusiasm for unearthing classic tracks and waxing lyrical about the artist, producer, studio or session is as legendary as his achievements as a DJ.

He describes the songs he plays as part of “the soundtrack to our lives” and his weekly slot on Kiss FM is an institution. His first radio show was in 1978 on radio London - a year later he was doing shows and reports from Kingston, Jamaica - pushing the emerging dub artists and interviewing among others Bob Marley.

Next up were dub sessions recorded specially for the show. Q’s literally stretched round the block to be part of this. He moved to Kiss in 1990, where he remains to this day. In 1997 his committment was hounoured by an award at the MOBO’s, namely BEST RADIO DJ. His weekly Brixton based MASS night is legendary and has maintained it’s status at the centre of the DUB, DANCEHALL, REGGAE scene in the UK for years.

He is the man who pioneered the soundclash style in the UK, where two DJs square up to each other with one-off Dub plates and a microphone - the winner is decided on how crazy the crowd go! He is a regular guest in Jamaca were he has a huge fan base. Quite unusual for a guy actually born in Hanover…
Above all what sets Rodigan ahead of his peers is his pure passion for dub. He’s been on the road for 26 years now and shows no sign of giving up his life long quest to entertain & keep the world turned on to Roots music.
That is why it’s a real pleasure to have a living legend gracing WHQ for us, a true friend of the Club, joining the dots of Black music from the kids of yesterday, right through to the kids of today… Mr David Rodigan.
